Description
Science and AI in support of Diversity and Inclusion The widespread use of artificial intelligence in our daily lives has brought with it concerns about potential effects of algorithmic bias. It seems that our increasing reliance on (semi)-automated decisions necessarily results in injustice for some individuals or population groups. Is this a correct representation of the role machine learning algorithms and artificial intelligence techniques play? Or does their employment rather uncover existing prejudices?
The goal of this workshop is to present research demonstrating that as a discipline, artificial intelligence has an important contribution to make to a more inclusive society by revealing patterns in public data indicative of hidden biases. For the first time, we will be bringing together researchers and experts whose interests address Diversity and Inclusion themes, to facilitate a broader discussion on this topic.
