The Proposal for a Regulation on Artificial Intelligence (‘Proposal’), published earlier this year, introduced a conformity assessment framework for high-risk AI systems. The conformity assessment framework in the Proposal is largely based on the well-established product conformity assessment framework in the EU. The presentation will outline the key building blocks of the new framework for Artificial Intelligence in the Proposal and will reflect on anticipated shortcomings from the legal classification of AI as a product.
