Thrown to the wolves? Turning hostile students into fellow travellers
Ever experienced the powerlessness of facing a crowd of indifferent or even antagonistic students? Sooner or later, every teacher faces the challenge of turning hostile students into fellow travellers. This is so much more than ‘activating’ or ‘motivating’ students. To genuinely engage with students requires breaking down barriers on both sides. But how on earth do you get students to make efforts for this common enterprise? This session begins with a few personal anecdotes and reflections (c.a. 20 min), followed by sharing experiences and best practices in small groups (30 min) and ends with a few takeaways (20 min).
