Since the early twenty-first century, the study of comic books, manga, and graphic novels has taken off. Religion is involved with comics in several ways. Visiting professor Kees de Groot edited an entertaining volume (Bloomsbury 2023 (open access)) and talks about how comics are a way of encountering, doing, and making religion.
