Description
In this contribution I explore how profanities shape the world building of the fictional character Ugo Fantozzi, who symbolizes the middle-class Italian civil servant. In the five books analysed, profanities, curses, insults and swearwords are uttered by and to every single character, from the most humble to the highest in the social class/office hierarchy, including other social actors such as feminists, homosexuals, transgenders, and so forth.
