The construction of our social reality is mediated by technology. With advancements in socially disruptive technologies such as AI, the formation of our social reality is increasingly getting distorted. From echo chambers arising out of behavioural targeting undermining our ability to constitute social reality to deceptive deep fakes weakening trust in democracy to “realistic” AI chatbots substituting companionship, socially disruptive technologies have been impacting our individual and collective interests in social reality. To safeguard our social reality against the technomoral impact of socially disruptive technologies like AI systems, we need to recognize the Right to Social Reality.
