Mitigating Foreign Fossil Fuel Shocks: The Role of Renewable Energy and Industrial Electrification in the Netherlands

Dataset

Description

This project uses a macroeconomic (computable general equilibrium) model to study the role of the energy transition in reducing the exposure to foreign fossil fuel shocks. All the input data and code necessary for replication are available in https://github.com/ThreeME-org/ThreeME_V3-open/tree/NLD-GAS-PRICE-ECOMOD2025. This GitHub repository includes the supply and use tables of the Netherlands used for the calibration of the macroeconomic model, as well as the information pertaining to the different scenarios analyzed (see further details in 'Manual for running ThreeME.pdf') . In addition to this, 'ThreeMEOutput_CMODE.xlsx' contains the all the output of the macroeconomic model and replicates the figures obtained from this output as reported in Boonman, H. and Rodriguez, M. (2025) “Mitigating Foreign Fossil Fuel Shocks: The Role of Renewable Energy and Industrial Electrification in the Netherlands”. Both the manual and output files are also available via https://github.com/ThreeME-org/ThreeME_V3-open/NLD-GAS-PRICE-ECOMOD2025
