The modern world is characterized by rapid and intense social and cultural change. Due to globalization and the attendant new technologies demographic and cultural changes seem more pervasive than ever before. These form the object of the research program Rapid Social and Cultural Transformation: Online & Offline. We engage specifically with digital culture, communication and group formation in globalized society, and the implications for the public sphere.
