Career

From Sept. 1967 till July 1992 professor at the Diocesan Seminary of Brugge, where he was a professor in exegesis of the New Testament, Biblical Theology, Biblical Greek, Ecclesiology, Ecumenism and Church Music.

From the end of 1981 till July 1992 he was at the same time Rector of the Diocesan Seminary of Bruges

From Oct.1990 till Sept 1992 part-time professor, and from Sept. 1992 till Oktober 2003 fulltime Professor at the Faculty of Theology of the K.U. Leuven, Bible Department. Vice-dean 1999-2002. Emeritus professor since 01/10/2003.

From 1 January 2007: Dean of the Faculty of Catholic Theology of the University of Tilburg.

From September 1992 till 2003 he was at the same time Rector of Leo XIII -seminary in Leuven. Spiritual Director of Leo XIII Seminary, Leuven,since October 2003.

Research interests

My expertise is threefold:

  1. Exegesis of the New Testament, especially the Synoptic Gospels, the Q-source, theology and christology of the New Testament; Biblical Greek, especially the language and style of Lke-Acts.
  2. Ecclesiology, ordained and non ordained ministries. Ecumenism and ecumenical dialogues, especially the Anglican - Roman Catholic dialogue.
  3. Study of New Religious Movements, Minority Religions and Cults.
