Career

Albert Bomer is full professor of Tax & Technology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, a position he has held since April 2020. From 2017 to 2020, he served as an endowed professor of Indirect Tax Law at the same university and currently holds a position of Director of the Master’s Programme in Tax Law. Since 2013, he has also been affiliated with Tilburg University, where he lectures in several master’s courses in the fields of Tax Assurance and Tax & Technology.

Between 2005 and 2018, Professor Bomer held the position of National VAT Policy Coordinator at the Dutch Ministry of Finance. His academic work integrates legal scholarship with practical expertise in taxation, technology, and public policy. He also currently serves as an editorial board member of TaxTech and NLFiscaal and has published and lectured extensively on Tax Law, European Tax Law, Tax Assurance, and Tax & Technology.

At the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the Tilburg University, he supervises multiple research programmes focused on the intersection of taxation and technology.
