Career
Asel Doranova joined Tilburg Sustainability Center (TSC) from September 2020 as the coordinator and researchr. . Her research focuses on impact of green transition processes from the perspective of local communities and energy poverty and international climate finance. She applies these themes in several EU projects, including BOLSTER addressing Just transition under the EU’s Green Deal transition, ENPOWER, addressing energy poverty in Bosnia-Herzegovina and country level analysis on climate finance analysis. She is also involved in stakeholder engagement components for CIRCOMOD project aims to understand the role of circular economy in climate change mitigation.
Asel holds a PhD in Innovation and Technical Change, a MSc in Environmental Sciences and Policy, and a Master’s in Development Studies. She brings over a decade of policy consultancy experience, having supported EU institutions and international, national, and regional agencies on eco-innovation, sustainable energy, and bioeconomy policies. Earlier in her career, she worked on community development initiatives in Central Asia
Her PhD research (2010) focused on technology transfer and capabilty building under Clean Development Mechanism of UNFCCC.
Asel’s earlier professional experience (1998-2004) is related to community development programmes in Central Asia.
