Research interests

In 2003 Bart Vos was appointed as NEVI professor of Purchasing Management within the department Organization and Strategy at Tilburg University. His current research themes cover areas like sustainable purchasing, global sourcing and the design of effective buyer supplier relationships.

  • 2003 -As of May 1, 2003 appointed as (part time) NEVI Professor of Purchasing Management. Key expertise areas include the development of buyer-supplier relationships, global sourcing and sustainable purchasing.
  • 2001 - 2008 Associate professor of Organisation and Strategy at the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Economics, Tilburg University, Tilburg, The Netherlands. Key teaching responsibilities involve the supervision of graduate projects and the execution of the following courses: logistics & purchasing management, operations management and supply chain management.
  • 2000- 2001Assistant professor at the Department of International and Distribution Logistics, Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management Science, Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands.
  • 1999 - 2000Consultant/trainer at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Key responsibilities included the design and execution of training programs in the area of purchasing and logistics.
  • 1995- 1999Assistant professor of Organisation and Strategy at the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Economics, Tilburg University, Tilburg, The Netherlands. Key teaching responsibilities involved executing courses and supervising graduate projects in the area of purchasing and logistics. Research efforts concentrated on the design and control of international supply chains, with a focus on purchasing issues. The period September 1998 - January 1999 was spent as a Visiting Scholar at INSEAD's Technology Management department.
  • 1993- 1995Assistant professor at the Department of International and Distribution Logistics, Faculty of Industrial Engineering and Management Science, Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands.
  • 1988- 1993Full-time research assistant to write a PhD thesis. In this period, various contract research projects were executed to develop a design method in the area of international manufacturing and logistics.
  • 1986- 1987Graduation project for a drinking water company on West Java, Indonesia, aimed at improving the performance of this type of companies in developing countries. Commissioned by the Dutch consultancy firm IWACO.
  • 1984- 1986Research assistant (part-time), involved in data collection and analysis in behalf of the dissertation research of dr.ir. A.D.M. van de Ven (theme: "International Industrial Production").
