Personal profile

Research interests

My research interests are the normative, epistemological and methodological problems of law, both as a practice and as an academic discipline. On the basis of discussions with lawyers I focus on questions like the unity of legal authority in a multicultural society or a multinational polity like the European Union; the contemporary meaning of concepts like punishment, property, statutes, state and contract; or ethical questions with regard to law.

Teaching

I do no regular teaching anymore. I am available for incidental teaching jobs in The Netherlands or abroad.
