Research interests

Hans Weigand is Associate Professor at the Dept of Management at which he teaches general Information Management courses and on Business Analytics. His research domain is Information Systems. He considers organizational and technical aspects and how they interact. He is an expert on Language/Action Perspective (communciation modeling) and ontologies (such as accounting ontology and design artifact ontology) and investigates new technologies such as distributed ledger.  His interests also include the mimetic theory of Rene Girard and philosophical aspects of AI.

Career

Hans Weigand did his PhD project at VU Amsterdam on linguistic knowledge representation. In 1989 he moved to Tilburg and worked as senior-researcher in the ESPRIT II project SPRITE (database support for technical documentation). Since 1991 he is Lecturer (or Associate Professor) at the Faculty of Economics of Tilburg University and participated in the LIKE project sponsored by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO). He has participated in several external projects, including two ESPRIT projects, TREVI (news filtering) and MEMO (electronic commerce). Later, he participated in several NWO projects. He has been co-organizing international workshops on the Language/Action Perspective (LAP),  Pragweb and Value Modeling/Businesss Ontologies (VMBO) Since 2016, he is Academic Director of the master program Information Management.
