Research interests

Jaap Voeten obtained his PhD degree at Tilburg University in the field of responsible innovation. The thesis title: 'Understanding Responsible Innovation in Small Producers - Clusters in Northern Vietnam:A grounded theory approach to globalisation and poverty alleviation.' Career

Educated as Development Economist, Jaap Voeten specialised in micro and small business in developing countries, particularly on innovation and sustainable business combining people planet profit and poverty alleviation. During the first 15 years of his career, Jaap voeten gained hand-on experience in the field as researcher and project manager in long-term development projects in Vietnam, Indonesia and Yemen. Since 7 years he returned in academic circles and completed a PhD study on responsible innovation as a means towards sustainable development and poverty reduction in small producers? networks in Vietnam. His research has evolved into a practice of multi-disciplinary methods (economics, sociology and business administration) combined with grounded theory (qualitative/micro) approach towards policy making. Valorisation of research has always been an essential element in his research.
