Research interests

Main activities: free movement of workers and migration, worker's participation and corporate governance, social and labour market policy. At Tilburg University, I manage the INT-AR project, a long term analysis of cross-border labour recruitment and mobility. I coordinated the European Institute for Construction Labour Research (1992 till mid-2015); editor of the quarterly CLR-News (ISSN 1997-1745). Chief editor ETUI Collective Bargaining Newsletter (until December 2018). GOODCORP network member dealing with corporate governance and workers' involvement (until 2021), Worker participation
In November 2013, I received a honorary Doctor of Letters degree from the University of Westminster for my work related to European Social Policy.

Since 2009, member of the Board of Trustees of the Internationaler Bund, one of Germany's largest NGOs, www.internationaler-bund.de

From November 2019 on, independent expert in the management board of the European Labour Authority. In November 2023, renewal 2nd term (2024-2027).

From 2026 on member of the Board of Trustees of  WageIndicator - a non-profit organisation that provides independent labour market information worldwide.
