Career

Hi there! I’m Javad Pourmostafa /’dʒævɒd puːr’moʊs’tae’fɑː/!

I am currently a lecturer at the Department of Intelligent Systems, and affiliated with the Cognitive Science and Artificial Intelligence (CSAI) research center at Tilburg University.

I received my PhD on March 4, 2026, at Tilburg University. During my PhD, I studied how to make machine translation and quality estimation models more domain-specific, improving their robustness in specialized domains. My dissertation is available here.

Before joining Tilburg University, I was a postgraduate member of the Guilan NLP Group and a lecturer at the Computer Engineering Department of the University of Guilan. I earned my BSc and MSc degrees in Software Engineering in 2016 and 2019, respectively.
