My research investigates how organizations design management control systems under imperfect information, with a focus on managerial behavior and incentives, performance evaluation, and the consequences of measurement for skill development and career outcomes. I study how human expertise and artificial intelligence (AI) can be integrated in complementary ways, thereby linking management and digital technologies. I examine how, and under what conditions, AI-supported decision environments change managerial judgment, and what the use of AI implies for skill formation, resource allocation, and career trajectories. By analyzing the consequences of performance evaluations, explicit potential assessments, and the role of specific knowledge and skills (including tacit, higher-order, and technology-related skills), I provide evidence on how managers define internal labor markets as AI becomes increasingly embedded in organizational processes. The broader aim is to identify design principles that preserve learning and fairness while improving decision quality.
