Research interests

Malou Beck is a PhD Candidate within the Public Law and Governance Department at Tilburg Law School and part of Sofia Ranchordas' Vidi-project on "Vulnerability in the Digital Administrative State". Her academic background is in Law and Society and she is passionate about applying legal-theoretical and conceptual approaches to real-world examples. Her areas of interest lie in socio-legal research, social justice, digitalization, public law, and governance.

Malou's PhD research explores the socio-legal implications of the digitalization and automation of governments on citizens and is committed to advance a meaningful conceptual understanding of 'administrative vulnerability.' Through the application of empirical qualitative methods, she explores ‘who’ the vulnerable citizen in today's digital government is, ‘what’ these vulnerabilities are and ‘how’ the system gives rise to them.
