Research interests

As part of the ERC Project on "Political Apologies across Cultures", my PhD research will focus on how political apologies are expressed and received in different cultures. By creating an inventory of apologies that have already been offered, I will analyze the content, form, and context of these apologies. We will then select a number of political apologies and examine both in-depth and on a large scale how they have been expressed and received across different cultures. The overall research objective is to examine whether key assumptions regarding these apologies hold across cultures or whether they vary as a function of differences in collectivistic and individualistic values and face and honor norms
