Research interests

Mirjam van Reisen is Professor International Relations, Innovation and Care at Tilburg University and Professor Computing for Society at Leiden Centre for Data Science, at the University of Leiden.

Mirjam van Reisen leads the oganisation Europe External Policy Advisors in Brussels.

She is chair of the Virus Outbreak Data Africa and Asia Network Steering Committee and chair of the network Globalization, Accessibility, Innovation and Care (GAIC).

Mirjam van Reisen was also a member of the Dutch Advisory Council on International Affairs and Chair of the Development Assistance Committee from 2013 - 2020.

Career

Mirjam van Reisen is Professor International Relations, Innovation and Care at Tilburg University and Professor Computing for Society at Leiden Centre for Data Science, at the University of Leiden. Van Reisen is Research Leader of the Globalization, Accessibility, Innovation and Care (GAIC) network. Her teaching experience includes, among others, the University of Pavia, Tilburg University, Amsterdam University College,  Leiden University and the College of Europe.

Van Reisen is a member of the Dutch Advisory Council on International Affairs (AIV) and Chair of the Development Assistance Committee (COS).

Van Reisen leads the oganisation EEPA in Brussels. She is a member of the Board of Philips Foundation and the SNV Netherlands Development Organisation. Van Reisen is the Coordinator of the Virus Outbreak Data Network (VODAN) Africa implemenation network.

Mirjam van Reisen has published extensively on Europe and international cooperation, human rights and human trafficking. She leads research into international  human trafficking, international cooperation, the role of technology and big data and the position of women in peace building.

Van Reisen received the Golden Image Award in 2012 by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

 

Teaching

I teach on international relations and public policy, international human rights, research methods, digital society and international policy, international cooperation and EU policy, migration and human trafficking in the digital era, culture in international relations.
