Personal profile
Research interests
I am a PhD researcher at the Zero Hunger Lab and the Department of Social Psychology of Tilburg University. My research combines insights from social, economic, and cognitive psychology with econometric methods to better understand food choices are made under financial stress.
My main research interest lies in how environmental factors, psychological constraints, and emotions shape everyday decisions about food and health. I am particularly interested in how limited budgets and rising food prices affect dietary quality and well-being. In addition, I study barriers and facilitators for seeking (food) assistance, and how interventions can be designed to reduce these barriers.
Together with colleagues at the Zero Hunger Lab, I work on projects that aim to translate research into societal impact and contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger. This includes collaborations with societal partners such as Nibud and the Dutch food banks. Through this work, I hope to contribute to improving food security by increasing knowledge and developing evidence-based solutions.
