Personal profile

Research interests

Siebe Bluijs is a literary scholar specialized in modern and contemporary Dutch literature, avant-garde and experimental literature, and narratology. He is an expert of modern and contemporary literature in non-book media. In publications and lectures he has highlighted how literary works that employ the affordances of broadcast media (e.g. the radio play) or digital media (e.g. computer-generated literature, hypertext fiction, or Virtual Reality poetry) offer a window onto the changing functions of media in society in both their form and content. His research demonstrates that such works actively shape these media as well. Bluijs holds a PhD in Dutch Literature from Ghent University (Belgium), and he is currently employed as an assistant professor of digitization and literature (education) at the Tilburg Center of the Learning Sciences. Additionally, he has a background in graphic design, with a specialisation in book design and typography.
