Research interests

Dr. Stephanie Bijlmakers is Assistant Professor at Tilburg University, and a member of the Tilburg Institute on Law, Technology and Society (TILT) and the Tilburg Law and Economics Centre (TILEC). Bijlmakers has more than six years of experience conducting research on institutional and substantive aspects of standardization, supply chain regulation and corporate sustainability. Her most recent publications analyse the evolution, resilience and legitimacy of private and hybrid standardsetting bodies, in the face of crises. In her teaching, she focuses on legal aspects of standardization, and corporate sustainability. Dr. Bijlmakers’ is recipient of a Starter Grant to conduct research on human rights protection and resilience in the global semi-conductor value chain, and the responsible sourcing of critical minerals, in the context of a just energy and digital transition. Dr. Bijlmakers supervises a PhD project in the area of ICT standardization. In 2024, she was a visiting researcher at Stockholm University.
