Career

Vikas Lakhani is a lecturer and study advisor in the Liberal Arts and Sciences program at University College Tilburg. With an interdisciplinary background in Geography, Disaster Management, and Environmental Sciences, his work focuses on sustainability, disaster memory and reconstruction, and heritage tourism. He teaches and supervises students in sustainability, disaster recovery, and climate change.

Vikas earned his Ph.D. in Geography from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow and was part of the Rachel Carson Center's Environment and Society Program (2015–2018). He has held visiting research positions at the University of Leeds and Stavanger University (both in 2018) and previously worked at Hiroshima University (2015) and the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (2009–2010). From 2010 to 2015, he served as Deputy Director and Sector Manager in the Disaster Management Department of the Government of Gujarat, India.
