Research interests

In my research, I try to capture and better understand the complexity of emotional experiences. I mostly focus on emotional differentiation or granularity and emotion regulation, and their relation to well-being. I study these constructs both in daily life using intensive longitudinal data/ESM/EMA/mixed research methods, as well as in the lab. I focus on differences in the emotional architecture between individuals, but I also have a specific interest in how qualitative characteristics of how we label emotions and differentiate between them, changes within individuals. Recently, we started conducting qualitative ESM studies to examine how we can best capture emotional experience in daily life, and to help us better understand the within-person structure of emotions.
