Build, Baby, Build: A Longitudinal Study of Partnerships and Performance of Dutch Housing Associations

Housing associations (woningcorporaties) own around 75 percent of rental housing stock in the Netherlands and play a key role in providing affordable housing and fostering social cohesion. They face growing pressures from housing shortages, sustainability transitions, and limited financial resources. One way they address these challenges is by partnering with public and private organisations. However, systematic knowledge about how partnerships affect their economic, environmental, and social performance remains limited. This project addresses this gap by creating a novel longitudinal dataset (2016-2024) to generate insights into how partnerships affect housing associations’ performance.
