    Project Details

    Description

The project addresses three aspects of syntactic structure. The idea that syntactic objects must be captured in standard phrase structure representations that are exhaustively characterized by binary relations of precedence and dominance is in need of revision. The goals of the project are to characterize a linguistically significant extension of the notion of syntactic projection, to provide a syntactic characterization of shared structure, and to formulate a formal theory of licensing environments for empty lexical elements.
