Cognitive ecological momentary assessment: Bridging the gap between self-reported and neuropsychologically-tested cognitive functioning

Patients with acquired brain injury (ABI) often experience cognitive symptoms. However, current single time-point neuropsychological assessments may not effectively capture these symptoms as they often fluctuate across hours and days, due to factors such as fatigue, stress and mood, that are inherent to ABI symptomatology. This project aims to develop and validate new neurocognitive tasks suitable for ecological momentary assessment on a smartphone, to better capture these fluctuations in cognitive symptoms.

This will result in a reliable and ecologically more valid cognitive assessment tool, tailored to the real-world experiences of ABI patients.

This We-care project is a collaboration between the department of cognitive neuropsychology of Tilburg University and the ETZ hospital.
