Greed and consumer decision making

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Dispositional greed is characterized by the desire to acquire more and the dissatisfaction of never having enough (Seuntjens, Zeelenberg, Breugelmans, & Van de Ven, 2015), which leads to an insatiability desire for more resources (Krekels & Pandelaere, 2015). Although greed is an important human motivation that is thought to be a driving force of both economic growth and a cause of the
financial crisis (Seuntjens et al., 2015), research on greed is still relatively scarce. The goal of the current project is to get a better understanding of the dynamics of dispositional greed and its consequences for behavior and attitudes in financial and consumer decision making. In our research we combine multiple data sources, such as longitudinal data of the CentERdata panel, the CentERlab and online studies.
