Investigating Metabolic and Neuropathological interactions to Address Cognitive Symptoms in ME/CFS

People with ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) often experience cognitive problems such as poor attention and memory and slow thinking. New research suggest that changes in the kyurenine pathway affects the brain microstructure and metabolism, which each can explain different types of cognitive problems. This project aims to investigate multi-domain MRI and neurocognitive data from the Netherlands MECFS Cohort and Biobank to assess how micristructure, brain metabolites, and network function relate to cognitive symptoms as well as to kyurenine pathway metabolites.
