    Project Details

    Description

The project is focussed on the construction of a validated Dutch oral proficiency test for DFL and DSL elementary school children aged 4 to 9. The aim is a criterion referenced and norm referenced test, to be used by teachers in primary and special education. A series of productive and receptive tasks to evaluate phonological, lexical, morphosyntactic and discourse skills will be developed. In a four-year longitudinal design these tasks will be administered with 1.200 DFL and DSL learning children, originating from low and high SES and from different ethnic groups. Next to the language proficiency tasks, data on sociolinguistic and strategic competence of the children involved will be gathered.
