Linguistic diversity and homogenization. Historical and contemporary reactions of policy and practice on multilingualism and education

    Project: Research project

    Project Details

    Description

The aim of the project is to contribute to an increase of knowledge and insight regarding the way in which policy and practice in their response to multilingualism take a position on the continuum of assimilation and pluralism. This is done by conducting a case study into linguistic homogenization in a multilingual Dutch primary school class, an international comparative study of language policy implementation in multilingual schools, and a historical study on the genesis of the monolingual habitus' in the Netherlands.
