    On the basis of psychological theories about aims of consumers and their way of processing information an explanatory model of cultural participation will be devised. Patterns of cultural consumption involve products with a substantial (or less substantial) amount of complexity. Current models, containing preeminently socioeconomic variables, will be extended by including psychological variables that measuring aims pursued by consumers and the processing of information.
