Description
Algorithms are pervasive across all sectors of society and are developing into a new kind of institution with its own regulative, normative, and cultural-cognitive dimensions. So far, much of the discussions around Algorithms have focused on the technology. To realise public values in the algorithmic society, we need to a broader societal perspective on the way technology, human actors and public values interact and the effect this has on people and society.
The gravitation program “Public Values in the Algorithmic Society’ will investigate the systemic changes through which algoritms evolves in everyday contexts, the way public values are realised in this process, the effects on citizens and society, and the necessary governance strategies
