Transformation processes in European and national economic law: Energy law as law of socio-technical change

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Our societies are faced with tremendous challenges and paradigm shifts of which the most obvious may be Russia`s war against Ukraine, but also the ongoing digitalization of our economies including the energy economy. New business models are emerging, especially collaborative ideas are gaining more and more attention. Against this background, in particular energy law, a field of law that is itself shaped by its problem-based approach (Kaisa Huhta, The coming of age of energy jurisprudence (2021) Journal of Energy & Natural Resources Law, 39:2, 199 (204 f.)), addresses these changes in the light of the challenge to both achieve the 2050 climate goals as well as energy security at the same time. The research lays a special focus on energy law and further defines it as law of socio-technical change.
