In a longitudinal design, the project describes the quantitative and qualitative development of Dutch vocabulary in monolingual Dutch and bilingual ethnic minority children from their fourth to ninth year. The main focus is development in growth (breadth') and the relation with rule-governed and/or associated-pairs learning behaviour of morphologically complex words (e.g., conjugation), with cognitive abilities (e.g., definition) and with textual abilities regarding cohesion and coherence.
