Abstract

Green energy is becoming an increasingly important element of the global energy system aimed at achieving sustainable development and combating climate change. In Ukraine, which suffered significant losses due to the war, renewable energy is essential to energy security and economic recovery. This study analyzes the role of renewable energy in Ukraine and the main challenges caused by the war. It outlines the prospects for the development of the industry in the post-war period. The paper analyzes the attractiveness of investment in the green energy sector of Ukraine under martial law. The consequences of Russian aggression on the energy sector, particularly the “green energy” sector, are analyzed. An assessment of the risks and opportunities that arise from military operations has been carried out. Recommendations have been developed for public policy and private investors to support the sustainable development of green energy in conditions of instability. A comprehensive approach to creating a development strategy and recommendations for accelerating the transition and development of green energy in Ukraine is presented. Recommendations to speed up the transition: 1. Formation of a clear state policy: The government needs to develop and implement a national strategy for the transition to renewable energy sources, which includes the definition of goals, deadlines, and relevant measures. 2. Support research and development: Investing in scientific research and development (R&D) in green technologies is critical to improve efficiency and reduce costs. 3. Cooperation with international organizations: Active participation in international projects and initiatives can provide access to new technologies and financial resources and exchange experience with other countries. 4. Infrastructure development: To ensure the efficient operation of green energy sources, it is necessary to modernize the existing energy infrastructure, including electrical networks and energy storage systems. 5. Implementation of monitoring and evaluation mechanisms: It is necessary to introduce systems for monitoring progress in the transition to green energy and evaluating the effectiveness of implemented measures.
