Abstract

Because the quality of preaching is an issue in the RC Church, two official documents were issued, that however put rather different emphases. The Directory stresses orthodoxy, pope Francis dialogue. Because neither of the documents elaborates practical considerations, I offer five criteria for a good homily: one topic; un-packing; image or story; context; structure.
