Abstract
Central to sociolinguistics is the dialectical relation of how language structures society and how society structures language. AI is now part of that equation. Not only does AI (re)produce language, it provides resources people can use to make meaning. Understanding how AI (re)produces and organizes language is thus a first, but certainly not the only step in assessing how AI impacts language and society.
