Abstract

It is a great pleasure and an honour for me to write in this Festschrift for Rob van Houwelingen. Although the Catholic tradition from which I originate is still struggling with the place of Scripture in ecclesiastical life, his and my common love for Scripture connects us. However, the theme of this collection, “troubling texts” indicates that some of the texts of Scripture are difficult to love.
