Abstract
Southeast Asia is simply buzzing. There is a significant regional and international focus on economic development, politics and sociocultural studies in this dynamic region. This essay aims to introduce and explain the concept of Knowledge Economy 2.0 from an economic geography perspective to highlight regional development in Southeast Asia. Furthermore, we intend to challenge member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to move beyond post-Fordism economies that are based on foreign direct investment to become more innovative and creative.
