Abstract
Breast cancer or breast neoplasm, or breast carcinoma is a malignant growth that begins with tissues in the breast, usually the ducts (i.e., the tubes that carry milk to the nipple) and lobules (i.e., the glands that make milk). Cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells grow in an uncontrolled way.
Quality of life (QOL) is often interchangeably used with terms like health status (HS) and health-related quality of life (HRQOL). However, although the concepts overlap, there are different features, which make them distinct (Van der Steeg et al. 2008). There is a debate on how to conceptualize QOL. If one adopts a critical approach, then a large number of published studies actually have not assessed QOL, but have measured related concepts, such as HS and/or HRQOL.
