    Abstract

The introduction of alphabetic writing was the prerequisite for religions of the Book, i.e. Judaism, Chistianity, and Islam. Since then, every technological innovation with a serious impact on the societal status of writings - e.g. the printing press - had tremendous consequences for religion. This offers an impression of the possible significance of the contemporary ICT revolution for Christianity.
