Communicative Intertextuality: Isaiah 53:4a–b and Matthew 8:17c–d

Abstract

In this contribution, I would like to present my ideas on a communication-oriented analysis of intertextuality. In a (synchronic) communication-oriented perspective, the intertextual relationship occurs at the level of the text-internal author and text-internal reader. As an example, I would like to deal with the intertextuality between Isaiah 53:4a–b and Matthew 8:17c–d. Through their intertextuality, Isaiah 53:4a–b and Matthew 8:17c–d create a complex network of communications in which characters, the text-internal author, and the text-internal reader are involved.
