Abstract
Cross-bearing appears in Mark's manuscript tradition of the story of the Rich Man. Usually the tradition is believed to originate from Mark 8,34, but we show that this is quite unlikely. We argue that it is likely that, from a thematic perspective, cross-bearing entered Mark 10,21 from Luke 14,27 and its context.
