Abstract
This PhD thesis presents three essays on consumer search, product returns, and optimal pricing in online markets. The first essay derives an optimal pricing formula and provides empirical evidence on the link between prices and product returns. The second develops and estimates a structural model of consumer search with the option to return products. The third analyzes how private labels shape welfare and competition in online marketplaces under sequential search.
