    Abstract

Artificial intelligence is a “game-changing” technology. For sure, it is still in the early stages of its development and current expectations are often set too high. Singularity — the point where artificial super-intelligence surpasses human intelligence — is still “relatively” far away. Yet, AI is already changing many fields of life and this change is only set to continue. Everyone needs to understand artificial intelligence and integrate discussion about this cluster of technologies into their own particular area of expertise. But are we doing enough?

Indeed, we must study artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning technology, as well as their applications. And, the recommendation to study and understand AI is not only for technologists, mathematicians, and computer scientists. Everybody should engage with these developments. Though some have voiced concerns about artificial intelligence, there is little doubt that it is leading us to a very different future. Indeed, it is transforming what it means to be human. We should not continue to rely on old ideas, principles, concepts, or experiences. We must study the new world in order to remain relevant and to develop a better understanding of the digital reality that is emerging around us.
