Abstract
Surrealism, which is said to have largely passed over the Netherlands or only developed in the Netherlands after 1945 at the earliest, forms the core of Van Geel's artistic life and work. Van Geel's work gives some insight into the early surrealist period in the Netherlands. His special and personal surrealist view can be regarded as the binding factor between his two talents. A better understanding of that surrealist view helps to better follow and interpret the development in Van Geel's work.
