Abstract

This chapter deals with the ‘Bibi & Tina’ films and the ‘Hanni & Nanni’ films –German youth blockbusters of the 2010’s– and their novelization. These films, adapted from literary series and/or radio play series, take up the aesthetics, the editing rhythm and other codes of video clips, and have been qualified as ‘pop’. Hyper saturated colors, interweaving of sung and danced scenes and permanent action take precedence over the psychology of the characters. I show the difficulties that this poses for the novelizations of these films, and how the authors of the novelizations manage to capture this 'pop spirit' and put it into words.
